Our first pupils to enter a Sixth Form will be 2018. This is when our first Year 7 pupils reach Year 12.
Towards the latter stages of year 10 and again in September of Year 11 each pupil will have an interview to discuss the Sixth Form (or alternative plans). This will review progress at the end of Year 10, forecast GCSE grades and A-Level preferences.
We have been looking at our sixth form provision and we are keen to partner with an institution as it would not be viable to offer a full and varied range of post 16 courses on our campus.
After extensive research and discussions with providers we are delighted to say we are to forge a partnership with Harrogate Grammar School (HGS). Their sixth form demonstrates outstanding teaching, fantastic facilities and excellent results and they offer many successful routes into university or employment. HGS also offer opportunities to enhance employability through developing leadership, volunteering and other extracurricular activities.
We will expect our pupils, to still be a part of LJFS through collaboration with the primary school, to take on leading roles with the primary age pupils. They will act as mentors, coaches, reading partners as well as role models. Whilst they will attend sixth form elsewhere we also intend that they will play a positive and active part in the life of the primary school.
