Personal Development: Growing Knowledge, Character and Values
At Leeds Jewish School, personal development is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to ensuring that every pupil develops the knowledge, skills, confidence and character needed to flourish both academically and personally.
Our approach aligns closely with the personal development expectations set out by Ofsted and the Department for Education. We provide a rich and ambitious curriculum alongside extensive enrichment opportunities that support pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Through our Jewish values and traditions, we help children develop a strong sense of identity, responsibility and belonging while preparing them to become active and positive members of modern British society.
Personal Development Through Our Curriculum
Personal development is woven throughout our curriculum rather than being delivered as a standalone programme.
Across all subjects, pupils are encouraged to:

Our Jewish Studies curriculum further enriches this learning by helping pupils explore questions of ethics, values, community responsibility and social justice. Through the study of Torah, Jewish history and traditions, children learn about kindness (chesed), responsibility (achrayut), respect (kavod), and repairing the world (tikkun olam).
These values are reflected throughout school life and help pupils develop a strong moral compass that guides their decisions and relationships.
