Enrichment Activites
At Leeds Jewish Free School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programme is designed to broaden horizons, develop character, build confidence, and give students opportunities to discover new interests and talents. Alongside a strong academic curriculum, students benefit from a wide range of experiences that support their personal development, leadership skills, creativity, and wellbeing.
A variety of lunchtime clubs run throughout the year, giving students the opportunity to engage in activities such as sports, music, debating, chess, arts and crafts, leadership projects, and subject-specific enrichment. These clubs allow students to pursue their interests, develop new skills, and build friendships across year groups.
Students also have access to a diverse programme of after-school activities through The Zone, Leeds' flagship youth centre. Located right on campus, The Zone provides young people with access to excellent facilities including sports, fitness, creative arts, music, wellbeing activities, and youth development programmes. Through our partnership with The Zone, students are able to enjoy high-quality extracurricular opportunities in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment.
Throughout the academic year, enrichment extends beyond clubs and activities. Students take part in a wide range of educational visits, cultural experiences, residential trips, community projects, guest speaker events, charitable initiatives, and faith-based activities. These experiences help bring learning to life, deepen understanding of the wider world, and create lasting memories. Whether visiting universities, museums, places of worship, theatres, businesses, or outdoor education centres, students are encouraged to learn through experience and challenge themselves beyond their comfort zone.
We place great importance on enrichment because we know that academic success is only one part of a young person's development. We want our students to leave Leeds Jewish Free School as confident, resilient, compassionate and well-rounded individuals. Enrichment opportunities help students develop teamwork, communication, leadership, problem-solving and independence, while also supporting positive wellbeing and fostering a lifelong love of learning. By combining academic excellence with rich and varied experiences, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
